YouTube user Taras Kulakov, otherwise known as the Crazy Russian Hacker, shared a video on how to open a can if you don't have any can openers. He called this trick his "Zombie Survival Tips #20," but it's actually a good skill to learn when you're roughing it at camp or in the midst of an emergency or crisis, such as being stranded after a storm or flood and you have no good kitchen or tools to use.
The 28-year-old demonstrated the trick along with a friend by flipping the can upside down, then rubbing or scraping it hard on a concrete surface. The can will begin to moisten, which indicates that the seal is broken. "Once you scraped a lot all you got to do is squeeze it and you opened it," he said in the video, which has already been watched over 26 million, the Daily Mail noted.
Most canned goods are manufactured with rolled seam, and if grinded enough, you can open it without causing any spills, according to Life Hacker. However, some people say that the trick could cut your fingers if you're not careful handling the tin can. "Just keep your fingers lower on the can, and you'll be fine," said one Reddit member.
