MLB RUMORS: Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig Under Investigation by League for Involvement in Bar Incident

There have been many rumors surrounding Yasiel Puig and his status with the Los Angeles Dodgers over the past few months. His alleged involvement in a recent troubling incident may not help his case with the team.

Puig was reportedly involved in a fight with a bouncer at a Miami bar on Wednesday night, according to the Los Angeles Times. An additional report from TMZ Sports said Puig was involved in a "massive brawl" and "got physical with his sister" after getting into a heated argument with her.

However, Major Delrish Ross of the Miami Police Department told the LA Times that "no shoving was alleged" between Puig and his sister and "to the best of our knowledge, the only physical altercation was between the bouncer and Puig."

Ross said Puig suffered multiple facial injuries, including a swollen left eye, and the bouncer had a "busted lip" as well as minor facial bruises.

Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times says Puig will be investigated by the commissioner's office under Major League Baseball's new domestic violence policy. This will be the second case reviewed under that policy this offseason. Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes was reportedly involved in a domestic violence incident with his wife while the two were vacationing in Hawaii. He was charged with domestic abuse and pleaded not guilty earlier this week.

As for Puig, the 24-year-old will also be subject to discipline from the league even though he was not charged and the bouncer said he will not press charges against the outfielder.

"The news of MLB's investigation came from a person familiar with the situation who spoke anonymously because the organization was still gathering facts pertaining to the incident," Hernandez writes.

Major League Baseball and the Players Association agreed to the new domestic violence policy in August and there could be two disciplinary measures handed down this offseason.
