Three people have died and another remains missing after the recent flash floods in Texas. The three victims had been trapped inside their vehicles in separate incidents as the cars were washed away during flooding in North Texas, according to the Associated Press.
One of the deceased was trapped in his car after floodwaters rose up around him. Benjamin Floyd, 29, was on his way to work at Target and attempted to call 911, but crews were not able to reach him in time. Floyd was a husband and a father, and a Go Fund Me account has been set up to help his family deal with their loss, WFAA reported.
The body of Sandra Jones, 33, was found downstream from where her car was discovered following the flooding, according to ABC News. Police found her vehicle around 4 a.m. Friday after the water subsided and they were able to reach it. However, her body was not located until several hours later.
A 70-year-old woman has been declared missing after her car was swept off a bridge in Fort Worth during a failed rescue attempt by a sheriff deputy, CNN reported. More than seven inches of rain has hit the Dallas area over the past two days, which has caused the flooding.
Forecasters have cautioned that the weather could get worse over the weekend, according to The New York Times.
Emergency crews in Texas have been put on standby and rescue boats in Johnson County were made ready Friday night. Elsewhere, workers from Texas' Department of Transportation have been checking areas that are prone to flooding.
