Davian Navar Henry Only, Florida Oprhan, Receives Nearly 10,000 Requests For Adoption

A Florida orphan who made headlines and broke hearts after a desperate plea for adoption to churchgoers has received nearly 10,000 requests for adoption and will "without a doubt" be getting a family, ABC News reported.

On Monday, Only appeared on national television and thanked the foster homes that took "good care" of him and apologized for being a "butthead" to some when he was younger.

Only, 15, has been in foster care his entire life. Since he has never had a real family, he decided to take matters into his own hands and arrived at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Sunday, asking the congregation for help.

"I'll take anyone," he said to members of the church. "Old or young, dad or mom, black, white, purple. I don't care. And I would be really appreciative. The best I could be."

His quest for a family garnered national attention with many hoping he finally becomes part of a permanent family. His current adoption agency, Eckerd, received more than 10,000 requests from families wanting to adopt him.

"Without a doubt, Davion will have a family," his caseworker, Connie Going, said on "The View."

Going said a lot of potential families have already had studies performed and are in the process of being reviewed.

"Davion will be extremely involved," she said of the process of finding a family. "He knows who he wants, who he can connect to. We need strong families that understand teenagers."

When the 15-year-old orphan was asked on what he is looking for in a family, he responded "Anybody who will love me."

"It would make me feel really good and I think I'd be more successful and have more opportunities if I had a family," he added. "I hope that I do have one."

Ron Zychowski, chief quality officer of Eckerd, told ABC that the agency has been "overwhelmed in a good way" as they received thousands of requests, not only for Only but other children as well.

Following Only's plea for adoption, the agency has expressed to people everywhere to contact their local foster care service because "there are Davions in every city in America."
