Maudelle, a recovering addict and alcoholic who has now been straight for three years, had struggled her whole life until now. The pieces of her life seemed to be falling into place, and she was happy, but she was still missing one thing.
"My dream for a long time was to having me a little house dog," Maudelle said, according to I Heart Dogs. So when her sponsor asked her if she wanted a dog, she jumped at the chance and the pair went to the Nashville Humane Society to pick out a little dog for Maudelle.
When Maudelle first saw the little poodle mix Brownie, it was love at first sight. She knew this was the one, this was her doggy soulmate.
While Maudelle knew little Brownie was a rescue, she had no clue to the life he had, until the Humane Society stopped by to see how the pair were doing and shared the video of Brownie's dramatic rescue.
Brownie was rescued from a horrific life of years living in a filthy Tennessee puppy mill, said Doggy Zoo. When they first met Brownie, he was so matted that the rescuers were not sure what breed he was or if he was a male or female.
The little matted dog was living in horrid conditions and hadn't seen daylight, and he was covered in urine and feces, according to Hero Viral. Brownie's face was so matted the mats covered his eyes and he couldn't see.
Maudelle teared up at the video seeing the conditions her Brownie had been living in, and the rescue worker showing her the video was equally as emotional. It was a tough life Brownie had endured, but made it a heartwarming sight to see him sitting in Maudelle's lap, enjoying himself, happy at last.
Maudelle and Brownie found happiness and acceptance, each needing the other and being lucky enough to have found each other.
"I think God was doing something for both of us that we couldn't do for ourselves," Maudelle said. "He needed love and I need love with my new way of life. And he has a new way of life as well."
