Milan is unbeaten in the Champions League, but boss Massimiliano Allegri admitted Barcelona could be the team to put an "L" in their 1-1-0 record.
"Tomorrow's match is important for everyone but especially for the standings," Allegri told the team website, via Sky Sports. "It's always a fascinating game to play against them, it's a game of the highest level in Europe. They remain the strongest team in the world. ...
"We will have to take a positive result to increase our chances of progressing from the group. We will need 90 minutes of great patience, making sure we give them few chances."
Milan's task of beating the powerhouse Spanish club is made even more difficult with the questionable playing status of Mario Balotelli, Milan's top scorer.
"Balotelli is much better and we will evaluate his condition in training (on Monday)," Allegri said. "We will see if he will feature against Barcelona."
While Allegri sounded optimistic on Monday, SB Nation reports Balotelli will be out as he continues to recover from a thigh injury. The club will also be without Daniele Bonera (knee), Giampaolo Pazzini (knee), Stephan El Shaarawy (foot) and Mattia De Sciglio (match fitness).
Barcelona is closer to full strength with the return to the lineup of Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, Dani Alves and Alexis Sanchez. Barca is 2-0-0 in Europe after defeating Ajax and Celtic.
