New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is now being targeted by GOP front-runner Donald Trump after securing a high-profile endorsement from the New Hampshire Union Leader.
Christie, who has made 113 stops in the New Hampshire, is back in the state on Monday where he's holding a town hall meeting and is scheduled to receive another key endorsement - this time from real estate developer and key political figure in the state Renee Plummer.
Trump, who has made a habit this election cycle of attacking primary opponents after they appear to have risen in the polls or faced media scrutiny, is now targeting Christie in light of the most recent endorsement, questioning how he can govern New Jersey when he is spending his time in New Hampshire, according to The New York Times.
As the election cycle continues with an increased focused on national security due to the Nov. 13 Paris attacks, Christie is hoping that his record as a federal prosecutor in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks will encourage GOP primary voters to give him a second look, especially in New Hampshire, which is the first state to hold a primary election, according to CNN.
Though it remains to seen whether Trump's attacks will have any impact on his campaign, receiving attention can be seen as mixed blessing. Despite being linked to Trump in media coverage, being attacked by him means he perceives you as enough of a threat to do so.
The campaigns for both Christie and Trump have both declined to comment on the recent development.
