Tonight's mid-season finale of "Gotham" packed an extra treat for comic book fans as Warner Bros. debuted a new teaser for the upcoming "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." But for those of you disappointed with the teaser's modest length (0:49), fear not, for an all-new full length trailer will be released Wednesday night on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
But for right now, let's stick with this teaser because it is very interesting. Ever since the film's first trailer was released, fans have been wondering if the Superman emblem wearing soldiers (who we see kneeling to Supes) are a cult that worship the Man of Steel or his own personal armed force. The teaser seems to hint at the latter somewhat which is a big departure for the normally squeaky clean Superman. It allows shows Supes in a largely antagonistic role against Ben Affleck's Batman. That's relatively new territory for the character as well.
Obviously, we need more dialouge and plot suggestions to continue to evaluate what the film could end up as, but the tone and angle Warner Bros. is going for is shining through in this teaser. Clearly, this is a new age set of superheros that are much darker than their optimistic predecessors.
