"Bones" stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz and executive producer Kathy Reichs have filed a new lawsuit claiming they were cheated of "tens of millions of dollars" in profits by Fox. The suit comes just days after another "Bones" executive producer, Bryan Josephson, filed similar legal papers against the network, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The lawsuit, filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, claims that Deschanel, Boreanaz and Reichs "were being cheated out of more than $100 million in gross revenues and being overcharged many additional millions of dollars in alleged expenses."
The suit also alleges that the network used fraudulent accounting methods and withheld information to deprive the trio of their entitled profits.
As per agreements with the network, Reichs was apparently entitled to 5 percent of the show's profits, whereas Deschanel and Boreanaz were promised a 3 percent profit share of Fox's longest-running drama series, according to The Wrap.
Josephson's lawsuit, filed on Nov. 25, made similar claims against the network and also stated that Fox threatened him with cancellation of "Bones" if he did not accept the lower license fees for the fifth and sixth season of the drama.
Deschanel, Boreanaz and Reichs' lawsuit asserts that "[w]hen 20th TV finally did engage with Plaintiffs in the fifth and sixth seasons of the Series, it did so under the threat of cancelling the Series unless Plaintiffs accepted its non-negotiable license fee figure, and then concealed material information about the true value of that figure," according to Deadline.
