Wonder Woman Rumors: Will Amazon Princess Be Included In Upcoming 'Batman vs. Superman' Film?

As the filming for the upcoming Batman vs. Superman (or Man of Steel 2 depending on your sensibilities) begins, new casting and hero rumors are emerging indicating that the DC Universe might be expanding by one more super hero.

Wonder Woman is an important character in the Justice League and an poignant character in a super hero cinematic universe that has been devoid of female heroines for far too long. In a recent interview with Variety, Warner Bros.' president of creative development and worldwide production, Greg Silverman, was asked if the upcoming follow up to the summer's blockbuster hit would feature heroes such as Wonder Woman, Green Lantern or the Flash.

"We have been doing a lot of thinking for years about how to best use all those characters and we love them," Silverman responded. "Wonder Woman is an amazing character. I think it's a great opportunity both for box office success, but also to have an amazingly powerful female superhero."

The specific mention of Wonder Woman prompted the interviewer to ask if there were plans for a solo film based on DC's "Amazon Princess" as IGN puts it.

"We are taking it all very seriously and are trying to do a plan that's respectful to those characters and maximizes the stories as best they can," he said. "So everything that has been speculated are things that we've thought about."

In addition to fueling the rumors of Wonder Woman's inclusion in the upcoming film, Silverman also addressed the controversial Batman rumors.

"We knew going in that we had more information than the general public had," he said. "We knew what the take of the movie was, we knew what the character was going to be. We don't take these decisions lightly. We thought about everybody -- brand new people, established people. Ben is the perfect guy to play this role. They both will be wearing suits, there are capes involved, there will be action, there will be excitement... They've crafted a great story."
