Twin security alerts have sparked a mass evacuation of buildings close to the BBC Broadcasting House and the London Bridge station Tuesday afternoon. The alerts were issued after a "suspicious vehicle" and a "suspicious package" were spotted near the areas, according to The Daily Mail.
Responding to the security alert, bomb squad detectives were deployed in the London Bridge station area. Police later put the London Bridge underground station on lockdown as several buildings in the area were evacuated. Sniffer dogs were also deployed on the site.
The area was later deemed safe.
In a separate incident, Great Portland Street and Regent Street were blocked off after reports emerged of a "suspicious vehicle" in the area. Authorities then proceeded to evacuate nearby buildings, reports The Express.
Scotland Yard later confirmed that the alert has been canceled and that the vehicle was found to be non-suspicious.
Though both incidents were proven to be false alarms, the authorities nonetheless thanked the people for cooperating with the sudden evacuations.
"Counting House at Hays Galleria safe to return to. We really appreciate your patience and compliance with officer directions at the scene," the Metropolitan Police wrote in a statement.
Britain has remained on high terror alert after special forces were deployed on the streets of London, heralding the biggest security response since the 2005 London bombings and last month's brutal Paris terror attacks.
