Manchester City sits second in Group D with a 1-0-1 record. Three points behind Bayern Munich, City is looking for another win to remain in contention for the top spot in Group D. Fernandinho stressed the importance of walking away with a win on Wedneday.
"This is all about six points because we play CSKA twice back-to-back and we must win there," Fernandinho told the team website. "If we do that and then beat them at home, we will take a big step towards qualification. We have two hard away games this week with Chelsea coming up on Sunday, but we will try to keep our concentration.
"We have to go for the win. We can't think about the draw - we need to go there and leave with three points."
CSKA, meanwhile, is 1-0-1 and sit behind City in the Champions League standings. The club will be without Mario Fernandes (knee), Aleksandrs Cauna (foot) and Rasum Elm (calf); Seydou Doumbia (hip) and Alan Dzagoev (hamstring) are questionable, according to SB Nation.
Skipper Vincent Kompany (thigh), Jack Rodwell (hamstring) and Martin Demichelis (knee) are unavailable for Manchester City.
