Kimye Engaged: Lamar Odom Skips Kanye West Proposal Celebration to Avoid ‘Awkward’ Run-in with Kardashian Family? (VIDEO)

Several of Kim Kardashian's closest friends and family were all at AT&T Park in San Francisco for Kanye West's surprise proposal on Oct. 21. Two people noticeably missing from the festivities were baby North West and Khloe Kardashian's husband Lamar Odom.

Reportedly baby Nori couldn't make it because it was too chilly outside but a source told Hollywood Life that Odom purposefully skipped it because he didn't want an "awkward" run-in with the family.

"It would have been a little awkward for Lamar to be there," the source said. "His side of the family isn't too keen on Kim's side and that would have been bad energy. Lamar's not stupid and knows what's best and decided to just sit it out and let Kim and Kanye do their thing."

The source said Odom was given an invite to the celebration and even though he decided to skip it he did send the couple his congratulations.

"He can't believe Kanye didn't propose sooner," the source said. "He thinks it's great and he's really happy for Kim."

Odom reportedly does want to attend the wedding if he gets an invitation. TMZ caught up with the basketball star leaving the Spitting Chicken Cantina in Sherman Oaks, Calif. with some friends. Odom told TMZ that he didn't go because he had other plans that night.

"Of course I was invited," Odom said. "But I had something to do."

"Maybe I had to do something personal," he added when the photographer asked him why he would skip the proposal.

The former Clippers player told the photographer that he believes his wife and the rest of the Kardashian family were ok with him not showing up. This could be a bad sign. It was reported that Odom and Khloe Kardashian were finally starting to talk again after months of living in separate houses.

When asked if he talked to his wife Odom said the two "talk like a normal family" and made sure the photographer knew he was wearing his wedding ring.
