Marvel has tapped Stephany Folsom to punch up the script for "Thor: Ragnarok," the second sequel for the Norse god played by Chris Hemsworth, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The hiring news comes two months after Marvel brought aboard Taika Waitit to direct the third "Thor" film, which is set to premiere on Nov. 3, 2017.
Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle previously worked on the "Ragnarok" script.
Folsom is only the third female writer to work on a Marvel project. Nicole Perlman served as a writer on "Guardians of the Galaxy" and will co-write the upcoming "Captain Marvel" with Meg LaFauve, the screenwriter on Disney-Pixar's "Inside Out."
"Thor: Ragnarok" will be Folsom's first produced screenplay. The 2013 Black List (a list of the best un-produced scripts) featured her script, "1969: A Space Odyssey or How Kubrick Learned to Stop Worrying and Land on the Moon," an alternate-history story about a publicist who convinces Stanley Kubrick to work with NASA to fake the moon landing.
Tom Hiddleston and Jaimie Alexander will reprise their roles as Loki and Lady Sif, and Mark Ruffalo is in negotiations to appear as his "Avengers" character Bruce Banner aka Hulk.
