"The Simpsons" waited 17 seasons until they made a feature length film. "South Park" put one out after just two. "Family Guy," though, is taking its cues from the former.
Creator Seth MacFarlane is poised to make the animated leap to the big screen after 14 seasons of "Family Guy." Of course, this isn't the first time we've heard that. In 2012, MacFarlane said that "we do know what the Family Guy movie will be." He went on to praise "The Simpsons Movie" for being hilarious but did have one constructive criticism.
"It's a story they probably could've done on TV," he said. "There could've been an episode that had that plotline. That's the challenge with animation. You pretty much can do any story you want, so what is the reason for the movie? We finally hit on that answer to that question, and it will be something that would be impossible to do on TV."
But when should fans expect this impossibility? MacFarlane was asked for an update on the supposed "Family Guy" movie on Twitter yesterday.
There ya go. Soon. I'll be sure to put that in my iPhone calendar. Until then, enjoy "Family Guy's" 14th season currently airing on FOX.
