St. Louis Cardinals Vs. Boston Red Sox Live Radio Broadcast: World Series 2013 Game 1 (LISTEN)

The St. Louis Cardinals play the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday in Game 1 of the 2013 World Series. The game starts at 8:07 p.m. ET. Listen to the live radio broadcast HERE.

The memory of the 2004 World Series, where Boston swept St. Louis in four games, is still fresh in the minds of players from both teams.

"Some of us have some pretty bad memories of being here in 2004, and we're looking to kind of right that ship," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said, via ESPN.

Matheny was then the Cardinals' catcher, and Yadier Molina was just a rookie.

"It's fun to be part of this history, to be here in Fenway Park, to be part of this Series against Boston," said Molina. "It's different to play here overall. Playing defense, offense, pitching. It's different, but at the same time it's fun."

Cardinals third baseman David Freese remembers growing up in St. Louis and watching Boston reliever Keith Foulke field the ball to close out the series, ESPN reports.

"I remember the comebacker that ended it. The sweep," said Freese. "You don't expect a World Series to end in four games."

Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, however, isn't putting much stock in history.

"Obviously I'm aware of the history of the two teams," he said. "Once the first pitch happens, all that goes out the window."

John Lester opens the series for Boston. He pitched on Thursday, allowing just two runs and seven hits while fanning three Detroit batters in Boston's 4-3 win.

Adam Wainwright will duel with Lester on Wednesday. The Cardinals pitcher gave up two runs and six hits while throwing five strike outs in St. Louis's 0-3 loss to the Dodgers.
