Steven Tyler gave his daughter Liv Tyler an extra assist when she delivered her second child six weeks early in February. The proud grandpa arrived to the hospital just in time to cut the umbilical cord.
Liv's fiancé, David Gardner, was out of town on business when she went into labor with their son, Sailor. "The Leftovers" star called her sister Mia, who in turn called their father, and he immediately flew out of Nashville to come welcome his new grandchild.
"He just like walked out of his house, he was in Nashville, and I didn't exactly know that and then he kind of walked in just before everything happened and cut the cord," Liv told Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday. "And literally walked in the door right before it happened."
The 38-year-old actress never thought she would give birth with her father and sister in the room, but she described the experience as "very sweet" with lots of laughter. The Aerosmith rocker did stand out a little from the doctors and nurses with his dark-painted nails and skull rings.
"His hand just looks insane in there with his long black claws and the painted black stripe down the middle and huge skull rings and everything," Liv explained.
Liv also has a 10-year-old son, Milo. Although they don't get to see Steven that often, she described her sons' grandfather as a "magical wizard" when he comes to the house.
