Ethan Couch: Texas Teen With 'Affluenza' Under Investigation For Probation Violation (TWEETS)

Ethan Couch is under investigation with Texas authorities after a six-second video appeared on the social media site Twitter on Wednesday afternoon, tagging police and the Tarrant County district attorney's office in the video link, said the Dallas Morning News. Couch is the Burleson teen whose lawyer argued his "affluenza" defense, and was able to convince the jury to give the then-16 year old probation with zero jail time for the four deaths he caused while driving drunk in 2013.

The video in question shows four men playing beer pong and allegedly one is Couch, who is serving a 10-year probation that includes no driving and no drinking in the terms.

"ya boy ethan couch violating probation. i got more if u want," Twitter user @BlondeSpectre wrote, tagging the city of Burleson and the Tarrant County district attorney's office on the Wednesday afternoon post. Subsequent responses came all day including "snitch" or cheers from fellow twitter users.

Couch's lawyers argued that the teen, who is from an affluent family, had a case of "affluenza" which simply put his parents coddled him with all of their money, giving him a sense of irresponsibility, according to the New York Daily News. Thus paving the way for Couch's conviction of intoxication manslaughter to lead to him receiving a 10-year probation instead of any prison time. He was sent to a $45,000 a year rehab facility paid for by his parents.

The Tarrant County district attorney's office confirmed Thursday morning that they are investigating the video and accusations of Couch violating the terms of his probation, which states he cannot drive, drink alcohol or use drugs. If Couch is found in violation of the terms, he could receive a jail sentence of up to 10 years.

Tarrant County Prosecutor Richard Alpert acknowledges that his office is taking the allegations very seriously, saying, "We're going to get to the bottom of the allegations and take whatever action is appropriate once we do."

"We need to verify it's him. We need to verify where it was." Alpert added, according to CBS DFW. "We need to verify who was there with him, and we need to verify what there is beyond what we see in the video, and that's what we're trying to do."
