Merle Haggard has been hospitalized after coming down with a case of pneumonia and, because of this, has had to cancel several of his upcoming concert dates. "Due to pneumonia, Merle Haggard has checked into a CA hospital, forcing him to postpone his next few tour dates," said a post on his Facebook page. "Those shows include last night in Palm Desert, tonight in Riverside, Friday in Oakland and Saturday in Wendover. However, he hopes to be well enough to play his dates in Las Vegas, NV, Beverly Hills and Lemore, CA, next week. Stay tuned..."
The 78-year-old country singer's Palm Desert show, which was supposed to take place Dec. 2, has already been rescheduled for Feb. 8, 2016, according to Fox News. No additional information on the rest of the postponed dates have been released yet, but Haggard's son Ben did share the post to his own Facebook page to help spread the word.
In June, Haggard and his longtime friend Willie Nelson released "Django and Jimmie," which debuted at the top of the country chart and reached Top 10 on the Billboard 200, which was a first for Haggard, according to Rolling Stone. The two were supposed to go on tour, but before it even began, Nelson, 82, ended up canceling and postponing some of the dates due to a stem cell procedure that he had undergone to improve his lung health.
