LA Film Critics Awards: 'Spotlight' Wins Best Film - Full Winners List Here!

"Spotlight" won the Best Picture award on Sunday at the LA Film Critics awards. Tom McCarthy's film, which follows the true story of the Boston Globe's team of investigative reporters who expose the child molestation scandal within the Catholic Church, also bagged the award for Best Screenplay, according to Deadline.

Even though "Spotlight" won Best Picture, George Miller's post-apocalyptic film "Mad Max: Fury Road" dominated the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards with three honors; Miller for Best Director, Colin Gibson for Best Production Design and John Seale for Best Cinematography.

Michael Fassbender won the Best Actor award for "Steve Jobs" and Charlotte Rampling took home the Best Actress award for her much-applauded performance in "45 Years." The runners-up in the category were Geza Rohrig for "Son of Saul" and Saoirse Ronan for "Brooklyn," a performance that won her the Best Actress honor at the New York Film Critics Circle awards last week, as HNGN previously reported.

The critics voted Alicia Vikander as Best Supporting Actress for "Ex Machina" and Michael Shannon was chosen as Best Supporting Actor for "99 Homes," with Kristen Stewart ("Clouds of Sils Maria") and Mark Rylance ("Bridge of Spies") in second place, according to The Wrap.

The LAFCA, which is comprised of nearly 60 critics from Los Angeles-based publications, voted Asif Kapadia's film on Amy Winehouse, "Amy," as Best Documentary. "Anomalisa" beat Pixar's "Inside Out" to win Best Animated Film and "Son of Saul" won the honor for Best Foreign Film.

Other awards winners include Carter Burwell for Best Musical Score in "Anomalisa" and "Carol." Hank Corwin was named best editor for "The Big Short" and the New Generation award for promising talent was awarded to Ryan Coogler for "Creed."
