Sony announced on Saturday a better, more budget-friendly subscription plan for its PlayStation Now package, offering the unlimited game streaming service for $99.99 a year, as opposed to its previous $19.99 a month and $44.99 quarterly plan, according to Engadget.
With the new announcement, PlayStation Now might finally take off.
Though the streaming service was promising, its initial attempts at getting customers to sign up were embroiled in a number of issues, which included high prices, a limited number of game titles and performance that was quite unreliable.
With the update, however, things might very well change for the better.
After signing up for the $99.99 yearly package, gamers would have the capability to stream an unlimited number of supported titles to any PlayStation gaming platform, as well as select 2015 Sony Blu-ray players, Sony Bravia TVs and Samsung Smart TVs, reports CNET.
Currently, PS Now offers 268 games for streaming. The number is set to increase to 277 on Tuesday with the addition of nine titles from Warner Bros. and Interactive Entertainment.
The new pricing is available for both new and existing customers. PS Now subscribers who are currently enrolled in the monthly or quarterly service have the option to buy the $99.99 yearly plan to extend their subscription for the next 12 months. After the subscription expires, it will auto-renew for another year at the same annual fee.
To use the PS Now service, customers would need to have a compatible DualShock wireless controller and an internet connection of 5 MBPS.
For those who are still skeptical, Sony currently offers a 7-day free trial offer, so users can experience PS Now before committing to a yearly subscription.
