Ole Miss star wide receiver Laquon Treadwell is reportedly leaning towards entering the 2016 NFL Draft, according to NFL Reporter Rand Getlin.
Treadwell has had a huge junior season, and has caught 76 passes for 1,082 yards, and eight touchdowns. The Rebels star wide receiver suffered a gruesome injury last year when he suffered a broken fibula and dislocated ankle on the same play. He has bounced back from his injuries in 2015, and found a new sense of purpose going in to this season.
"It helped me figure out who was really there for me," Treadwell said, via the Chicago Tribune. "I figured out who cared and who supported me. It was me coming back to reality and realizing how important every moment on the field is. I've grown in my relationship with Christ. With me being so low, I needed him."
NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein currently views the Rebels star wide out as the eighth best wide receiver in the upcoming draft. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound receiver is great at catching contested passes, and is difficult to bring down after the catch. Treadwell is expected to be a late first-round draft pick, but will need to improve on his speed and routes at the next level. While he is great at catching passes in coverage, NFL scouts want to see more separation on his routes.
It will be interesting to see where Treadwell lands in the draft, as some have projected him going as early as the ninth pick to the Baltimore Ravens, according to Walter Football's mock draft. The junior wide out has yet to declare for the draft, but will be heavily sought after if he makes the decision to enter the league in 2016. He has until Jan. 18 to make his decision as to whether he will apply for early draft eligibility.
