Warning: The following contains spoilers for season two of "The Flash."
Outside of actually being The Flash, the most important thing in Barry Allen's life is Iris West. He's loved her ever since they were kids, but poor timing and the ups and downs of everyday life have consistently gotten in his way. Despite being an awesome superhero, he's yet to get the girl.
For fans hoping the will they/won't they story line between these two tilts in the direction of the former, don't hold your breath. It sounds as if another obstacle is going to pop up that will keep Barry and Iris apart.
"The new year may usher in [Iris'] first post-Eddie romance," Michael Ausiello of TVLine.com wrote. "The CW hit is looking for a handsome African-American actor in his 20s to play Scott, Iris' new boss at CCPN. Their professional relationship gets off to a rocky start - his first order of business is to kill her puff piece about recent attacks in Central City. Maybe that's his idea of foreplay?"
The fluid emotions between Barry and Iris have been a major plot point for the show over the last two seasons. But as any good soap opera drama masquerading as a superhero show would do, the relationship has yet to come to fruition as the series continues to string along this plot thread. Hopefully, Scott (way less cool than Barry, I can already tell) is nothing more than a minor fling so viewers can finally get what they've been hoping for.
Until then, we'll just have to get by with The Flash joining Arrow on occasion, kicking Gorilla Grodd's butt and generally taking care of Central City.
