After Apple it's now Sony's turn to come up with a budgetary phone for its buyers. The Japanese conglomerate is reportedly working on a pocket-friendly phablet, Xperia Tianchi, slated for a November 12 release.
Pictures of the rumored device have appeared on a Chinese website, My Drivers, indicating that the phablet will be primarily launched for the Chinese market and rolled out to other regions over time, reports unwiredview. However, the leak has not revealed many technical details of the device other than the rumored phablet will feature the MT6592 octa-core processor chip from Media Tek.
This is not the first time that Sony is working with Media TEK chips for its affordable handsets. The present Quad- core chips were used on the successor to Sony Honami, Sony Z1 F, released in July. The Octa-core chips are reportedly not superior to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and use all the eight cores at the same time to empower the device. It has an average speed of 2GHZ. However, the chip does not come along with inbuilt LTE support resulting in high battery consumption while browsing, reveals a recent post on Digitaltrends.
The other specs rumored for the upcoming phablet include a 6-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 X 720 mega pixels. The gadget is likely to pack a much slimmer body as compared to its sibling Sony Xperia Z Ultra, released earlier this year.
Alongside the Sony Xperia Tianchi, the Tokyo based electronics manufacturer is also set to unveil another smartphone, , Xperia Z1 S on the same date. The device is said to be a global variant of the Sony Z1 F launched in Japan. Xperia Z1 S is expected to feature a 4.3-inch display powered by a 800 Quad-core processor. The device will flaunt a 20.7 camera and supposedly support a decent battery life with 2300 mAh battrery. In terms of storage capacity, the upcoming smartphone is said to come along with a 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory and will run on Android 4.2, according to a recent post on BGR.
Both the devices are expected to make their debut at the Shanghai event scheduled mid next month. Usually, Samsung produces multiple variants of its flagship products. It seems like Sony wants to take on both Apple and Samsung in one shot by producing reasonably priced multiple variants of its flagship products released earlier this year.
