A latest touch test done by a Finland-based firm, OptoFidelity, revealed that Apple's flagship smartphones iPhone 5S and 5C lost out in the touch screen accuracy test to Samsung's older flagship model, the Galaxy SIII.
Apple may have won many battles against Samsung and succeeded in selling millions of its latest flagship iPhone 5S models, but one thing it failed in is the touch accuracy test. This test proves Samsung's older flagship phone, Galaxy SIII's superiority over Apple's two latest launches, the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, in touch screen accuracy.
The results are surprising, given the new Apple iPhone 5S model sold more than 9 million units in the opening weekend. But the introduction of the new iOS7 in the latest iPhone models did not succeed as expected. In time, Apple rolled out two updates to fix a series of reported problems including the dizzying visual effects, iMessage issues, lock screen flaws and others.
OptoFidelity, a Finnish company that specializes in test and measurement automation, used its own Touch Panel Performance Tester to determine the best touch response in iPhone 5S, 5C and Samsung Galaxy SIII. The firm, with the help of a robot with an artificial finger, compared the co-ordinates of all three smartphones captured from the touch device, according to the test document.
On comparing the results, the iPhone 5S and 5C models failed due to bad touch performance near the edges and on the top of the screen. The Samsung Galaxy SIII proved to be a better smartphone compared to iPhone 5S and 5C in terms of touch performance.
The results of the test prove that the Galaxy SIII is prone to minimal typing errors compared to iPhone 5S and 5C.
"Apple iPhone 5S is a really fast smartphone that could improve its touch performance," OptoFidelity concluded. "With Apple iPhone 5C you get a slightly slower smartphone that has the same issues with touch screen as iPhone 5S. If you prefer metal over plastic, iPhone 5S is your choice from Apple smartphones."
While it is upsetting to find the out yet another flaw in the new iPhone smartphones, we are hopeful that Apple will address the issue in the near future and live up to users' expectations.
