Los Angeles Hotel Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 3 Injured At The Standard Hotel

A multiple shooting left one person dead and several wounded at the popular hot spot, Los Angeles' Standard Hotel, according to People.

Los Angeles police spokesperson Rosario Herrara said the fatal shooting happened about 2:20 a.m., after which responding officers arrived on scene to find three victims in front of the hotel with gunshot wounds, according to NBC Los Angeles. Minutes later, officers received another call about an additional shooting victim a few blocks away.

Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said at least two of the victims were transported to a local hospital. The identity of the victims has not been released at this time and officials are piecing together what happened during the dispute, which started between the 10th and 12th floors over access to a birthday party, before moving outside.

"It sounded like heavy machinery falling," said a witness at the scene, describing the incident. He described hearing about five or six gunshots farther away. "Then there were sirens."

"They're going to be in there watching video so that they can piece together what occurred and possibly get some suspect descriptions," LAPD officer Donald Graham said.

A gun was found by a parking lot attendant, according to The Los Angeles Times.
