Brandon Meriweather To Brandon Marshall: Players Who Beat Their Girlfriends Should Be Kicked Out Of NFL; Redskins’ DB Says He’ll Take Out Knees

Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather fired back at Brandon Marshall by taking a jab at the Bears receiver's multiple arrests for alleged domestic abuse. After serving his one-game suspension for illegal hits, Meriweather said he's now going to start targeting opponents low at their knees, ESPN reports.

Marshall chastised Meriweather last week for the safety's high hits during the Redskins-Bears game.

"I respect the league trying to better our game," said Marshall, via ESPN. "Guys like that, maybe he needs to get suspended or taken out of the game completely."

Meriweather, fresh off his one-game suspension, responded to Marshall on Monday.

"He feels like I need to be kicked out of the league, I feel like people who beat their girlfriends should be kicked out of the league too," Meriweather said, via ESPN.

Meriweather added: "You tell me who you'd rather have? Someone who plays aggressive on the field or someone who beat up their girlfriend?"

The 29-year-old safety also addressed his illegal hits, in which he claims he didn't lead with his helmet.

"I guess I just got to take people's knees out," Meriweather said. "That's the only way. I would hate to end a guy's career over a rule, but I guess it's better other people than me getting suspended for longer.

"You just have to go low now, man. You've got to end people's careers. You got to tear people's ACLs and mess up people's knees. You can't hit them high anymore."

Meriweather's two helmet-to-helmet hits against the Bears - one on Marshall and one on Martellus Bennett - were the latest tackles to get Meriweather fined. He was docked $42,000 for his Week 2 hit against Packers running back Eddie Lacy; he was also fined $50,000 in 2010 with New England and accumulated $45,000 worth of fines in 2011 with Chicago.
