The Boston Red Sox play the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday in Game 5 of the 2013 World Series. The game starts at 8:07 p.m. ET. Listen to the live radio broadcast HERE.
Red Sox slugger Jonny Gomes three-run homer was the story of Game 4, helping Boston even the series after Sunday's 4-2 win. Starting pitcher Clay Buchholz managed to pitch only four innings, giving up three hits and one run, before being pulled. Boston will hope for a better outing on Monday when Jon Lester takes the mound.
Lester kept the Cardinals scoreless while fanning eight batters over 7 2/3 innings in Game 1 of the World Series. He's played great in the postseason, boasting a 3-1 with a 1.67 ERA, according to ESPN.
"I don't know what it is. I like this stage," Lester told reporters, via ESPN. "I like knowing that I've got to go out there and give everything I've got for my teammates, because tomorrow might be our last game. You don't know. I guess that gives you that little extra focus."
Although there was talk of Lester cheating in Game 1, the left-hander isn't going to let the extra scrutiny get to him.
"I'm sure there's going to be focus on my glove and focus on my hands and what I'm doing, but I've got to worry about the Cardinals," he said. "If I'm worried about what people are looking at, I'm worried about the wrong things. I'm going to go out and pitch my game."
Adam Wainwright (2-2, 2.25 ERA) gets the start in Game 5 for St. Louis. After giving up six hits and three earned runs in Game 1, the right-hander is hoping to bounce back on Monday.
"I honestly don't know why my mechanics were as bad as they were, my deliver was off as much as it was," Wainwright said of his first-ever World Series start. "But I feel like I've put a lot of good reps in in front of the mirror, and watching film and feeling my delivery again, learning the basics all over again.
"I feel like I've made a lot of good adjustments to be ready for this next game to throw some quality pitches."
