Isaiah Chute, the 2-year-old son of Ohio-born Sherry Chute, has won the hearts of the internet community. This video, showing the toddler befriending a baby gorilla named Kamoli through a game of peek-a-boo, is as heartwarming as it is hilarious. The best part is that it seems that Kamoli is the one leading the game!
Isaiah giggles loudly as soon as he realizes that the gorilla, a new addition to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, wanted to play with him. "He was just looking at the gorillas and we said to him 'Isaiah what do the gorillas do?' and he started pounding his chest," said Chute, according to Dispatch. That's when he caught Kamoli's eye.
Kamoli was born in 2013 and clearly enjoyed having a playmate his same age. When the new friends had tired each other out, they parted ways, and Isaiah said "bye gorilla!" reported Dispatch.
"Kamoli seriously just wanted to play. It was just fun to watch them interact, and to see his true spirit come out, because that is what he's like all the time, always wanting to play chase with his friends," said Sherry Chute, according to 10TV News. Chute sent the video to the zoo, which posted it to its Facebook page. The video has now been seen on YouTube more than 2 million times.
"To just see that joy in his face, and to see that I can share that with the world... is just amazing. I'll never forget that," Chute added, according to 10TV News. "It was so fun to see him interact with the animals and know what they were. He was just so truly blissful in that moment, it melted his mommy's heart," said Chute, according to UPI.
