Director Richard Curtis and his girlfriend Emma Freud recently attended a midnight screening of Curtis' 2003 film "Love Actually," the Hollywood Reporter reported. Freud, who served as script editor on the movie, revealed details of characters Harry and Karen's fate during her live-tweet on Saturday night.
The Christmas romance film "Love Actually" ended on a cliffhanger for characters Harry and Karen and fans were left wondering what became of the characters' marriage and relationship.
In the film, Alan Rickman's character, Harry, is married to Emma Thompson's character, Karen. Harry gets involved in a flirtatious relationship with office secretary Mia, and Karen breaks down and cries when she finds out.
Their storyline ends when Karen greets her husband at the airport and says, "Good to have you back." Fans have been left in the dark about what really happened to the couple for more than a decade, but Freud finally offered an update on the couple via Twitter.
"They stay together but home isn't as happy as it once was," Freud tweeted in response to a curious fan.
She also confirmed that Harry did have an affair with Mia, which wasn't made explicit in the film.
"DEFINITELY had an affair. i begged richard just to make it a flirtation, but no. the whole way," Freud told another Twitter user.
