Terrence Jenkins Leaving E! News? Find Out Why (VIDEO)

E! News is saying goodbye to another member of its reporting team. Terrence Jenkins - who goes by Terrence J - announced Tuesday that he would be leaving the popular entertainment news series after three years as a co-anchor. So, why is he leaving the show behind?

Jenkins, who starred in "Think Like a Man" and "Think Like a Man Too," told his co-hosts Maria Menounos, Catt Sadler and Jason Kenned that he plans to further pursue an acting career and also produce full-time.

"I started hosting when I was 16 years old back in North Carolina, and I've been now on national television for over 10 years," he said on the show, according to E! Online. "Seventeen years, that's a long time, and I think in order for someone to grow it's important that you try new things and you create new challenges, create new dreams for yourself."

He continued: "I took some time off this summer and I produced and I starred in my first feature film, and I'm really excited about it and it's coming out at the top of the year. It's called 'The Perfect Match'... I've had a lot of opportunities come in in the acting space, both behind the camera and in front of the camera. And so, with all of that said, I wanted to announce today that I'll be leaving E! News."

Jenkins called the next step of his career an "exciting but also bittersweet" venture.

The TV personality left his hosting position at BET's "106 & Park" for a spot on "E! News" alongside Giuliana Rancic, who left the show this summer and was replaced by Menounos.

Jenkins said his decision to leave the show was one he "thought about long and hard. Before announcing that Wednesday would be his last day as member of the E! News team, Jenkins - who should a bit of his emotional side - took sometime to express his love and appreciation to his colleagues, the crew members and his fans and supporters.

"I love you guys to the bottom of my heart," he said. "I love this crew...I love working with you guys but it's important that I grow and I wanted to leave on my own terms and when I was ready... And to everybody that watches the show and has supported me over the years, thank you guys from the bottom of my heart."

Following his announcement, Jenkins took to his Twitter account to share some words of encouragement, writing, "Always bet on yourself, never get too comfortable, and follow your dreams no matter what!"
