Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey is reportedly viewed as a second round draft pick by some NFL evaluators and reportedly would be a great fit as a press corner in the Seattle Seahawks' defensive scheme, according to Charlie Campbell of Walter Football.
Ramsey has created a ton of buzz at Florida State and was an incredible starting safety for the Seminoles in 2014, but playing corner this season has brought him down in the eyes of some evaluators, according to Campbell. Prior to this season, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher stated that Ramsey could play safety, but that he was an NFL cornerback, according to ESPN's Joe Schad.
The junior cornerback is listed at 6-foot-1, 201-pounds, and has struggled to prevent separations from speed receivers as well as strong route-runners. While Ramsey has had some struggles in the position transition, teams still expect him to go in the first round. Walter Football's current mock draft views Ramsey as the fifth pick to the Baltimore Ravens, and although the Florida State corner has plenty of questions, many teams will try to get him early.
While the Seahawks will likely be too late to pick up Ramsey in the draft, if he somehow slides down boards, don't be surprised if Seattle grabs him. The Seahawks have plenty of other positions to worry about in the upcoming draft like offensive line, but sometimes if the right piece is on the board at the right price, a team will go outside their need to get an impact player.
Scouts are reportedly viewing Ramsey as a second round pick, but at least one NFL team will reach on Ramsey, as the young corner looks to have a ton of upside.
