'Python Massage' Spa Craze Effective For Relaxation? 'Science' Behind Snake Body Treatment May Not Add Up (PHOTOS)

There is a new spa treatment craze that will shed the stress off your body by using snakes to alleviate any tension.

If snakes horrify you, then it would be best to skip this Indonesian treatment at Jakarta's Bali Heritage Reflexology and Spa. The Daily Mail reports the Spa claims the "movement of the snakes and the adrenaline triggered by fear is said to have a positive impact on the customer's metabolism."

The spa claims releasing the adrenaline hormones will give you a calming affect. However, the purpose of the chemical is to elevate your blood pressure and boost your energy, which will cause your body to tense.

"There is a chance that after being frozen in fear with muscles tensed for up to an hour, that customers may need a full body massage afterwards, to need out some new knots," The Daily Mail reports. (Click here to view photos)

It's a bizarre idea for a spa treatment, but not the oddest to ever make its way onto the Internet.

Reality star Kim Kardashian once posted a photo of herself getting a "vampire facial," which uses blood to allegedly rejuvenate your skin.

"The patient's own platelet rich plasma (PRP) is applied to the skin preceded by a laser treatment and followed by a micro-needling process in which the skin is perforated with near microscopic holes," Dr. Sam Lam, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon based in Texas, explained to the Huffington Post. "The growth factors in the platelet rich plasma reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while improving the skin's tone and texture."

Both procedures are extreme, but there is a niche market for new kinds skincare and body treatments.
