"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" finally opens in theatres tomorrow, but if fans still wish to avoid spoilers until the last minute, Stephen Colbert has a plan. Wednesday night on "The Late Show," Colbert told his audience and viewers that he figured out a way to avoid being flooded with spoilers.
"Now, unfortunately for those of us who have not seen the movie yet, 'Star Wars' is going to generate a ton of spoilers," Colbert said. "They're about to hit us like were whomp rats just sitting here in beggars canyon because Monday night was the world premiere at Mann's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles."
He then explained that everyone who saw the movie on Monday night run the risk of spoiling the movie for the people who had not seen it yet. The late night host then said he thought there was only one way to "defend out enjoyment of this movie," to flood the Internet with fake "Star Wars" spoilers so people could enjoy it "in peace and ignorance."
Colbert then debuted the hashtag #SpoilerSpoiler and started tweeting a list of fake spoilers that were not in the movie, but that would "confuse people as to what is real and what is not."
"There's a scene where Chewbacca gets into some dark chocolate and has to spend the night at the vet," Colbert said as he typed the fake spoiler.
