NBA star Iman Shumpert sprang into action and rushed to his fiancée Teyana Taylor's aid when the R&B singer suddenly went into labor with their first child one month ahead of her due date, reported the New York Times. The Cleveland Cavaliers player's fatherly instincts kicked in as he delivered the couple's newborn daughter in a bathroom.
Taylor, 25, shared the details of her emergency home birth in an Instagram post yesterday. She uploaded a photo of the baby girl, Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr., along with a caption describing the steps her 25-year-old fiancé took to deliver her Wednesday morning.
"Not knowing I was in labor until I felt her head... it took two ten count pushes with my fiancé playing Dr and she entered this world into his bare hands! Eyes full of tears and barely able to speak to the emergency operator @imanshumpert tied a pair of red headphones around the umbilical cord and the ambulance made there grand entrance 5 min later," new mom Taylor wrote on Instagram.
Shumpert proposed to Taylor at little Iman's baby shower last month after announcing they were expecting in September, as previously reported by HNGN. The two celebrated the arrival of their first child with a royal-themed baby shower at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland.
"Our family is complete. Her blueprint will be unmatched," wrote Taylor. "Mommy carried you. Daddy delivered you. #MeetTheParents we love you baby girl."
