Scott Weiland Overdosed On Cocaine, Ecstasy And Alcohol, According To Toxicology Reports

Famous rock singer Scott Weiland, who fronted Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep after going into cardiac arrest while touring in Bloomington, Minn., Dec. 3 at 48 years old, as HNGN previously reported. A cause of death had not yet been confirmed, but since there was cocaine found on the tour bus where his body was found, and because of his history with substance abuse, an investigation had been taking place. Now, the reports have come back, revealing the true cause of his death.

Toxicology reports confirmed Weiland passed from an overdose of cocaine, MDA (which is better known as Ecstasy) and alcohol, according to TMZ. The reports also show that heart disease and asthma were "significant" conditions and his "multi-substance dependence" was a factor. Since police also found Xanax, sleeping pills, Viagra and bipolar meds on the tour bus, they were also tested for, but none of them played a factor in his death.

Weiland had a rough past as he had been arrested on several occasions and been in and out of rehab as a result of his struggle with drugs and alcohol, according to the Daily Mail. In 1995, he was arrested for carrying crack and heroin and, in 1998, he pled guilty to felony heroin possession.

In an emotional letter following his death, his family talked about the struggles they had faced with his addictions. "December 3rd, 2015 is not the day Scott Weiland died. It is the official day the public will use to mourn him, and it was the last day he could be propped up in front of a microphone for the financial benefit or enjoyment of others," said his ex-wife Mary Weiland, as HNGN previously reported. "The outpouring of condolences and prayers offered to our children, Noah and Lucy, has been overwhelming, appreciated and even comforting. But the truth is, like so many other kids, they lost their father years ago. What they truly lost on December 3rd was hope."
