‘Arrow’: Vixen Joining CW Series

"Arrow" has long been used as the launching pad for other DC Comics characters on the CW and that trend will continue this season.

Megalyn Echikunwoke voiced the character of Mari Jiwe McCabe on the CW Seed animated series "Vixen," and will now be portraying the titular heroine on the small-screen, CBR reports. She is scheduled to make her live-action debut during the 15th episode of this season. Comic book fans may now take a moment to revel in this awesome news.

"We're not only thrilled to be further expanding our DC television universe by bringing in the live-action incarnation of the CW Seed hit, Vixen, we're immensely excited that Megalyn will be revisiting her role as Mari McCabe," executive producer Marc Guggenheim said.

An amulet passed down within her family over generations gives Vixen with the power to adopt the abilities of animals. That means she can swim like a shark or charge like an elephant if the situation calls for it. In the animated series, "Arrow" and "Flash" stars Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin voiced their respective characters. However, it's doubtful that the relationships and storylines established in that show will bleed into the CW's live programming.

"Arrow" returns to the CW on Jan. 20.
