Ubisoft released "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag" on Tuesday with exclusive downloadable content for the PlayStation 3, but there were conflicting reports as to whether the same DLC will be available for the Xbox 360.
However, the game developers have now confirmed the AC4 exclusive will only be for the PS3 and the upcoming PS4, according to Eurogamer.
"Ubisoft's PlayStation-exclusive levels for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will not be released on other platforms after all," Eurogamer reports. "A US trailer for the game last week revealed that the content was a timed exclusive for six months, suggesting a release on other platforms at a later date was possible. Ubisoft has now confirmed that this will not be the case, and that Black Flag's hour of Aveline levels will remain exclusive to PlayStation 3 and PS4."
The DLC will be an extra 60 minutes of gameplay action available for the PS4.
With the next-gen console's release coming up, many gamers are asking if there will be a difference between the PS3 and PS4 version of the title. Multiple reports say the graphics will be much clearer and more realistic than ever, but The Verge states otherwise.
"For all the hype surrounding the new consoles, it's not entirely clear just what it is that will make next-generation games different from the experiences we can play right now," The Verge reports. "And Black Flag is a perfect example of this: aside from the slick new next-generation coat of paint, there isn't a whole lot to separate the different versions."
The minor differences between the PS3 and PS4 were not an oversight on Ubisoft's behalf. AC4's associate producer Sylvain Trottier told The Verge the company wasn't necessarily aiming to make the PS4 version "better."
"It was important to us to make sure that we don't end up with two different games," Trottier said.
"We already mastered the current generation," Trottier added. "Our engineers know their way around all of the issues, we have a lot of experience with it."
