Manchester City looks to bounce back from their 2-1 loss to Chelsea on Sunday. City has struggled on the road, losing three away games to sit seventh in the Premiere League with a record of five wins, one draw and three losses.
As City vies for a spot in the Capital One quarterfinals, manager Manuel Pellegrini emphasized the importance of playing hard in every game.
"Every team that wants to win something must demonstrate every week the intensity, quality and spirit that we have in this team," Pellegrini said, via IB Times. "If you think that just with quality you are going to win, then I think you are making a great mistake.
"We know exactly that if we want to win something, then we need to play every game with exactly the same concentration and intensity - then our quality maybe will maybe make a small difference.
"I think for me and the team and the club the pressure must always be the highest pressure to have good performances in every tournament we play, Premier League, Champions League, Capital One, for me is always the same and the pressure is positive."
Newcastle is also looking to rebound from their 2-1 loss to Sunderland over the weekend. The club is No. 11 in the Premier League standings with a 3-2-4 record. Newcastle boss Alan Pardew believes winning a trophy will put a positive spin on the season for the club's fan, as well as provide a boost of confidence for the players.
City and Newcastle opened the Premier League season against each other; City routed Newcastle, 4-0.
Man City is without Vincent Kompany (thigh), SB Nation reports. Fabricio Coloccini (groin), Ryan Taylor (knee) and Jonas Gutierrez (personal reasons) are unavailable for Newcastle.
