Google is celebrating Halloween with an interactive Doodle; a witch is shown brewing a potion from a book of spells.
Google going the traditional and predictable way in celebrating Halloween today , as it does other holidays, anniversaries, famous artists, pioneers, and scientists, with a doodle and this time it is a witch doing her best to scare us with different potions.
The interactive Doodle starts once a user presses the play button. The witch starts flipping through the pages and starts practicing witchery. A user can chooses a combination of two different items listed on the sides, including an apple, bone, bottle and a skull. After adding a combination of two items into a huge cauldron, different spooky results appear. If you mix apple and bone, you get pumpkins placed in a line and by hovering the curser above each pumpkin; the light appears to guide a mouse to reach the other end. Similarly, different combinations bring different interactive mini-games.

Halloween is celebrated on October 31 each year in various countries across the world. The custom has Celtic origins, it was a festival of harvest and marked the new year when the Celts believed the natural and the spirit world came together. It is also known as "All Hallows' Eve" as it falls on the same day as All Saints' Eve. People dress up in various spooky and scary costumes such as vampires, monsters, ghosts, skeletons, witches or devils. Pumpkins are carved and decorated and the day is spent attending costume parties, lighting bonfires, playing pranks, watching horror films and sharing scary experiences.
Google started its interactive Doodle in 1998, replacing its colorful logo on its homepage. A dedicated team has created over 1,000 doodles till date. The web giant also takes ideas from outside its team of doodlers.
