This summer it was revealed that Shaun Shipos would play the role of “Aaron” on “The Vampire Diaries.”
According to EOnline, Aaron is someone who Elena connects with at Whitmore. He could pose a threat to Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) relationship.
In a recent interview with TVGuide.com, Shipos gave three words for any “Delena” shippers that are already rooting against his character.
“Bring it on.”
Although many fans may end up loving to hate Aaron, Shipos says his character isn’t a bad person.
"He is a very broken human being," Sipos told the website. "Elena is very intrigued by Aaron because they have a deep commonality. He's a good guy, he's just... really trying to find his way."
Elena has gone through some pretty traumatic experiences recently with the death of Bonnie (Kat Graham), Alaric (Matt Davis). Jenna (Sara Canning) and her brother Jeremy's (Steven R. McQueen) death/coming back to life.
Dobrev explained that these experiences aided in the origin of the relationship between her character and Aaron.
“Elena's hope was to go to college and start this new life but she soon learned that Mystic Falls isn't the only place overrun by vampires," Dobrev said. “When she meets Aaron ... they bond over a similar life and past and the grief and death they both had."
“Delena” shippers have been on a roller coaster ride this season. There was a high point at the beginning of the season when they were hopelessly in love. Then there was a down when Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena seemed to be living “Stelena’s” greatest hits. Now shippers have to deal with Aaron? Good luck Delena fans.
According to the preview for tonight's episode on the CW website, Damon will try to make at least one of those traumatic experiences better. He'll attempt to bring Bonnie back to life but he'll need Silas' help. However, Silas (also played by Wesley) has a request of his own. Watch the preview here.
“The Vampire Diaries” airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW.
