Lexus Wheels Made Of Ice: 'Lexus On Ice' Might Just Be The Coolest Car Ever Made (VIDEO)

Japanese carmaker Lexus has fitted an NX compact crossover with wheels and tires made out of ice and calls it the "Lexus on Ice" project.

Four experts from Hamilton Ice Sculptors, a business that specializes in large-scale ice and snow installations in London, were behind the creation of the masterpiece that took three months to complete.

"Being a sculptor, it's about having a good silhouette, bold detail. Which is why these wheels are brilliant, because the shape of the rim on the car is a very strong, bold and geometric shape, so it really comes out in ice," said Jack Hackney, one of the sculptors who worked on the project, according to CNN.

Lexus used a moving flow of softened water to ensure the ice was perfectly clear, and the tires contain acrylic inserts to support the car's full weight, according to CNet.

Hence, even when the wheels were not 100 percent made out of ice, the result was still pretty close to real ice, as can be seen in the video below, which Lexus released:

Before the car was displayed, the NX compact crossover had to be stored in a chamber with a temperature of -22 degrees Fahrenheit, New York Daily News reports.

Lexus probably was not going for practicality on this stunt, but the feature is a cool and pretty sight to see.
