Rand Paul took to Twitter Wednesday to kick off the celebration of Festivus, the "holiday" made famous by a 1997 episode of "Seinfeld," by launching his annual airing of grievances on the social media network. This year, his 2016 presidential rivals were the first targets before hitting his usual subject: Washington.
However, Paul also "reached across the aisle," as Politico noted, and zinged "comrade" Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton for her extended bathroom break during Saturday's Democratic debate.
In previous years, he has created quite a tweet storm with his own tweets, as well as encouraging participation of his followers, NBC News reported.
Citing Seinfeld character, Frank Costanza, Paul opened the airing of the grievances.
"I've got a lot of problems with you people and now you're gonna hear about them!" #Festivus — Dr. Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2015
He started with Donald Trump and his recent use of the Yiddish-derived word "schlonged," which the Republican front-runner insisted is not "vulgar."
Where to start but @realDonaldTrump. If u bring the Yiddish, know what it means. Guess that's more of a kvetch than a grievance #Festivus — Dr. Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2015
And hits him again for his cheap ties.
After the debates, @realDonaldTrump always trying to give us parting gifts of his made in China ties. Weird. #Festivus — Dr. Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2015
Paul poked fun at Ted Cruz's Canadian roots.
My friend @tedcruz has still not pledged to issue exec order declaring Canadian "bacon" is not real bacon. Makes me suspicious. #Festivus — Dr. Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2015
He teased Ben Carson for being a "low talker."
I have no grievances against my fellow doc @RealBenCarson because I have not heard a word he has said in any debate. #Festivus — Dr. Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2015
Chris Christie was dinged for being a reported Dallas Cowboy fanboy.
I think I speak for all in NJ when I say @GovChristie I don't care how much $ u spend at Met Life, Cowboys fans should stay out. #Festivus — Dr. Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2015
Marco Rubio was called out for not being on the Senate floor during votes.
to my absentee friend @marcorubio, I didn't put your $170k salary in my waste report today. But I could have #Festivus — Dr. Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2015
Paul suggested it's time for Jeb Bush to get it together during debates.
.@JebBush is always trying to change the debate rules to allow extra time for awkward pauses in answers. Not gonna happen. #Festivus — Dr. Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 23, 2015
