Derrick Rose showed rust in his first game back to the NBA. The 2011 MVP finished Tuesday's opener against the Miami Heat, finishing the game having went 4-of-15 from the field for 12 points and four assists. He also committed five turnovers in the Bulls' 107-95 loss.
"If anything, I'm disappointed in the loss," Rose said, via ESPN. "My performance, I can easily change that by making shots and turning down the turnovers. It's not the end of the world. We can fix things. We did not show what we were capable of."
The bigger story on Thursday became whether Rose would play in Thursday's home opener. He missed the morning shoot-around on Thursday because of body soreness, something he attributed to not having his body back in basketball shape.
Still, Rose insisted he'd play on Thursday while coach Tom Thibodeau called Rose a game-time decision.
New York, meanwhile, is coming off a 90-83 win over Milwaukee on Wednesday. Despite blowing a 25-point lead, the Knicks were able to escape their season opener with a victory. Carmelo Anthony, who made headlines in October when he said he'd test free agency after the season, finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Raymond Felton scored 18 points, and Tyson Chandler chipped in with 10 points and five blocks, ESPN reports.
"We want to put teams away, especially, you know, you're going into a back-to-back, so you have an opportunity to rest," Chandler said of the Knicks' blown lead against Milwaukee. "But like I say, at the end of the day, learning experience, and I'd rather learn with a win than a loss."
