New York experienced a very warm Christmas Eve yesterday, and the weather leading up to Christmas has been so warm that temperature records for this time of the year have been broken multiple times. Needless to say, those seeking a traditional White Christmas have been very disappointed.
"It looks like it will be the warmest December on record," said Carlie Buccola, a National Weather Service Meteorologist , to Reuters.
The dramatically altered weather has had a profound impact on multiple businesses. For instance, a golf course in Buffalo that is usually closed remained open. Indeed, some 115 golfers had booked time at the course, according to Reuters.
In contrast, a holiday adventure business that offers sleigh rides in Maine is facing a different kind of scenario. Their sleigh rides usually take place over 2 feet of snow. However, since there was been very little snowfall this winter, most of the sleigh rides will be on wheels along the inland dirt paths. Businesses such as these are fear that customers may stop coming because of the lac of snow, according to Reuters.
The record-breaking weather has had a profound impact on New Yorkers, according to Agence France Presse. Thes changes to the weather patterns New York is seeing have dramatically altered the traditional image of a "White Christmas."
