The Internet is buzzing with news of the potential release of "Batman: Arkham City" in 2014, but are the rumors mills true?
According to tech site Kotaku, an unnamed British developer job listing we will possibly see a Rocksteady release in 2014. Rocksteady are the game developers for the recent "Batman: Arkham" series.
The report cites a Variety article published in 2012, claiming the article had made some changes after publishing:
A widely circulated Variety report from July 2012 claimed Rocksteady's next game was a Silver Age-inspired prequel with an assortment of DC characters that focused on the Caped Crusader's first encounter with the Joker, but those details that roughly match the plot line of the recently released Arkham Origins from WB Montreal.
Interestingly, that article has been changed somewhat since its publication: at some point this year, the sentence talking about a 2014 or later release for the next Arkham title became "New game, ‚'Batman: Arkham Origins' bows in November." Given the details matching the recent Arkham release and that sentence change, I'm going to guess the writer was alluding to Arkham Origins, not Rocksteady's next title."
However, "Batman" was not mentioned in the listing and reports are purely speculative. On the other hand, the serie's Caped Crusader voice actor Kevin Conroy may have accidentally slipped the existence of the "next" Arkham game in 2012, according to IGN.
"Conroy claimed at one point that he was working 'on the next Arkham,' a statement he soon after clarified by explaining that he is in a new Arkham game that is not Arkham Origins. Whether or not this new game was being developed by Rocksteady was never clarified, but it now certainly appears possible," IGN reports.
