After months without a permanent CEO, Famous Dave's finally named its new chief. The barbecue restaurant announced today that interim chief Adam Wright is now the permanent CEO, according to the Star Tribune. Wright has been the chief executive officer since June. He was given the temporary position after former CEO Ed Rensi resigned.
"We are impressed with the steps Adam has taken to move the business forward since his appointment as interim CEO six months ago. As a longtime investor, he understands the challenges that the company faces and the opportunities ahead. We are confident in his leadership and strategy for the future," said Chairman of the Board of Directors Joseph Jacobs, according to Nasdaq.
Famous Dave's stretches across 33 states, according to the Duluth News Tribune. The company has 180 restaurants, though its been on a steady decline over the last few months. Stocks have fallen from $30 last January to $7 Thursday.
The company hopes that appointing a permanent CEO will help boost stocks and bring the company back up to where it was.
"Adam has already demonstrated that an improved guest experience is a top priority in every capacity — the value, the experience and the food. He cares deeply about the company and the team. We are very excited for the future of the brand," said Famous Dave's founder Dave Anderson.
