The Red Sox will participate in another duck parade to celebrate their third World Series win in 10 seasons. Garrett Quinn of MassLive.com details the route:
"The parade ... will begin at 10 a.m. inside Fenway Park on the warning track and proceed along the same route the team took in 2004, down Boylston Street through the heart of Boston. The parade will proceed all the way to the Museum of Science in Cambridge where the duck boats will launch into the Charles River for a 'special splash' in the water."
Red Sox president and CEO Larry Lucchino is excited to share the team's win with the city.
"Very importantly, we've reconnected with our fans," Lucchino told the team website. "The bloom was off the rose, shall we say, after that 13-month period, September of '11 all the way through '12. The bloom was off the rose and we had to reboot and reconnect with our fan base.
"I think we were successful at doing that, acknowledging the problems we had and making sure they knew how much we wanted to win and how hard we would work to win."
Most of the players are expected to participate in the parade, according to CBS Boston.
With a large turnout expected, there will be a strong police presence on Saturday. Public drinking will not be tolerated, and backpacks will be subject to random search, the Boston Globe reports. The parade route will be closed to traffic from 9 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m.; fans are encouraged to use public transportation.
