Amazon Begins Selling Grocery and Automobile Parts Online in Canada

Amazon has announced two new additions to its wide range of online products. It will now include groceries and automobile parts in Canada starting Thursday. The addition is the latest of the 14 new categories launched in 2013.

Amazon is expanding its offerings by including a wide range of groceries and automotive parts in Canada. The U.S. online retail giant will now be challenging supermarkets in Canada with its latest progress. Users can now order groceries and automobiles online and have them delivered at their door step. The online retailer guarantees a wide variety of top brands of food products and automotive items, all in one place.

For its grocery store, Amazon.ca lists over 15,000 non-refrigerated food products, including items like Campbell soup and Kellogg cereals, as well as baby food and formula. This can be a great advantage for the retailer considering the low number of Canadian supermarkets offering online services. Also, Amazon.ca will have an upper hand in competition with Wal-Mart Canada, which started its grocery offering late September with 2,000 food-items on its e-commerce site. Wal-Mart is currently expanding its offerings by adding 1,000 new products every month, which gives Amazon a good lead in the race.

"Amazon.ca dramatically increased our selection this year, and we are pleased to now bring the Auto and Grocery stores to our customers," Alexandre Gagnon, country manager for Amazon.ca, said in a press release. "We're working to deliver an unmatched selection of everyday essentials and must-have products. With just a few clicks, customers can discover millions of items, take advantage of free shipping or Free Two Day Shipping with Amazon Prime, and have items delivered to their doorstep."

In addition to its grocery store, Amazon Auto store offers wide range of auto items from reputed brands in Canada including Camco, Curt, OTC, Schumacher, Battery Tender, and more. Right from car care products to windshield wiper blades, the retailer fulfills basic needs of day-to-day car care materials.

While the product range remains vast, users can also get personalized recommendations from experts, customer reviews and best sellers to help them make the right choices. A panel on the left side helps users narrow down the list of items in a simple manner. Shoppers can choose items based on customer reviews or go by brands. If looking for discounts on products, buyers can choose the suitable discount option or price range.
