The Vampire Diaries Season 5 Spoilers: Tyler Heads to The Originals; Michael Trevino Discusses The Crossover and the Forwood Breakup

It’s happening. Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) is leaving “The Vampire Diaries” and heading to “The Originals”.

Tyler declared to Caroline (Candice Accola) last episode he would make Klaus pay for ruining his life and apparently he’s going through with it. Trevino confirmed to the Entertainment Weekly website (EW.com) that he would make the crossover “sometime soon.”

While some fans have called for Tyler to leave “The Vampire Diaries” others are sad and confused at his departure. However, Trevino told EW.com if those fans are patient, they’ll come to understand the move.

”A lot of fans are upset that Tyler has made the decision to leave as soon as he shows up. I’m getting a little bit of flack for it on the Twitterverse here,” Trevino explained to the website. “I just want to say everything will be explained, and I think Tyler will make it good once he shows up to The Originals…. I think everybody will be happy with Tyler’s reasoning when they see what he’s been up to and what he has planned.”

Trevino also discussed the emotion that went into filming the scene in which Tyler and Caroline ultimately break up.

”It was actually really tough on both of us,” Trevino told EW.com about shooting the scene “In these scenes where Caroline and Tyler are going their separate ways, it’s usually that one of us is emotional and one isn’t. On this one, both of us were emotional.”

Trevino also said filming the emotional breakup took a few more takes for him and Accola than it normally would.

While the characters in TVD lost a friend at the end of last week’s episode, they may have the chance to gain one when we return to Mystic Falls on Thursday. According to the preview from Tuesday’s episode, Silas is back to being a witch and Damon is going to exchange Silas’ life for Bonnie’s into action.
